Matt Skiba – “S.O.S.”
I saw Matt’s band Alkaline Trio on this year’s warped tour. Matt Skiba has put together a series of home demos he made of his songs, and Asian Man Records has released them. Matt’s “S.O.S.” is this week’s MP3 Jackpot winner. I love songwriter demos. It’s so interesting to listen to a songwriter giving birth to a song.

Modern Skirts – “Rebecca St. Claire”
Well, well what I would call “modern folk” joins the MP3 Jackpot with this week’s winner, ”Rebecca St. Claire” by the Modern Skirts. This joyous ditty is infectious, silly, and intriguing all in one song. Athens Georgia always has the best bands. Modern Skirts is carrying on the tradition.

The Woggles – “Ragged But Right”
Wow, for someone who grew up with the Hombres, The Standells and Moulty and the Barbarians, it’s truly wonderful to hear The Woggles. Their song “Ragged But Right” is this weeks MP3Jackpot winner. I hope this combo from Atlanta GA comes my way soon.

Vermillion Sands – “Miss My Gun”
Not sure how to describe this incredible MP3, “Miss My Gun” from those Italian rockers, Vermillion Sands. It’s just gr8, and totally deserves a listen. It starts a little retro, but it ends with a modern flair.

Matt & Kim – “No More Long Years”
I’m always so down with attitude, and Matt and Kim, this weeks MP3Jackpot winner, have no shortage in that department. This cool two-piece from Brooklyn NY’s mp3 “No More Long Years,” is a gr8 example, I just love it.

Dios – “Stare At Wheel”
Using every cliche I’ve ever heard in rock doesn’t sound like a MP3 Jackpot winner, but Dios from L.A. does just that. Their song “Stare At Wheel” is tremendous. I recommend it to everyone.
